Tackling Digital Exclusion: The Latest Evidence
At the end of last month I had the pleasure of presenting research results on the theme of Tackling Digital Inclusion: The Latest Evidence at the SCVO’s event in Edinburgh. This storify, created by SCVO, summarises the event, and the research that underpinned it better than I could. Digital skills are such a hot topic given the changes in welfare benefits and the digital by default approach being taken to this issue. In our research we argued that it is important to understand who possesses digital capital, or the right literacies, to not only access the internet and associated platforms but also to do so in an effective and safe manner. Since this event, Doteveryone has blogged about the importance of digital understanding in defining the social, political and personal attitudes towards the internet. Watch this space for further research in this area.
