London 2012 Press Operations

London2012 Press Operations opportunity

As part of the ‘two years to go’ until the start of the Olympic and Paralympic Games celebrations, London 2012 launched our Games Maker programme looking for 70,000 Games time volunteers.

From June 2012 the Press Operations team will be relying on hundreds of volunteers with energy and expertise, to help us welcome the anticipated 5,600 members of the international press.

The work of the Press Operations team enables journalists and photographers to provide the best possible coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

?? The Main Press Centre, which acts as a news bureau for hundreds of press organisations.

?? The Venue Media Centres, with press seats and photo positions overlooking the field of play.

?? The mixed zones, where athletes are interviewed after competition.

?? The Olympic and Paralympic News Service, providing news, reviews and quotes to enhance the media’s coverage.

?? Further information regarding the Games Maker programme is available at http://www.london2012.com/get-involved/volunteer/volunteering-landing.php.

?? The application portal will close on the 27 October 2010 meaning all volunteers who wish to became a Games Maker must apply prior to this date.

As we only have a short period of time before the portal closes, please encourage interested students to register their interest by completing the attached expression of interest form and return it to pressoperationsvolunteer@london2012.com. We will send each interested individual a unique identifier and application code for the Games Maker site relevant to the Press Operations team.

If any students would like to volunteer at London 2012 but not necessarily within the Press Operations team, please encourage them to apply through the Games Maker website as a general volunteer.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
